Stay in Alps is an editorial site about where to sleep in the Alps. We cover the alpine arc across France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Germany and Slovenia — ski resorts, lake shores, valley towns and high-altitude villages — and we write for travellers who have already chosen the mountains and now have to choose the place.
What we do
We map destinations before we recommend hotels. For a given valley or resort, that means working out what the place is actually like: which areas are walkable, how far the lifts really are, what the season does to prices and crowds, and who a destination suits. Only then do we look at where to stay, and a hotel earns its place in a selection when it does something specific well — the position, the view, the spa, the food, or a room type worth asking for by name.
We publish in English, for an audience that is largely British and American, and we cover the whole price range rather than a single bracket. A converted farmhouse and a belle époque palace hotel are read against the same questions.
Who this is for
Our reader is usually comparing areas before comparing addresses — Val d'Isère or Courchevel, the Dolomites or the Bernese Oberland, ski-in ski-out or a village with something to do when the weather turns. Everything on the site is organised that way: by place first, then by the kind of trip.
How the site is funded

Mountains change: lifts get rebuilt, hotels change hands, a quiet valley gets busy. If something on the site is out of date or wrong — a closed hotel, a moved lift, a price that no longer resembles reality — tell us and we will look at it.
