Most are. Several — OpenSnow's Daily Snow email, Going, Thrifty Traveler, Jack's Flight Club, Secret Flying and The Storm Skiing Journal among them — run freemium models where the free tier is real and the paid tier adds depth, alerts or full archives. We note the model wherever it materially changes what you receive.
How were the 50 newsletters verified?
Every entry was checked against its live subscribe page or publisher site at the time of the last review. We confirmed recent publishing activity, and we excluded anything we could not verify — several well-known names didn't make the list for exactly that reason.
Why include travel-wide newsletters in a mountain ranking?
Because mountain travelers don't live on snow alone. Flight-deal alerts get you to Geneva or Denver cheaply, and luxury hotel newsletters are often first to cover new alpine openings. Where a section widens beyond mountain-only publications, we say so explicitly in its introduction.
